Using PNS and CNS axon injuries as the primary model systems, we aim to understand how stress responses enable axon regeneration in the PNS but drive neurodegeneration in the CNS. Harnessing these transcriptional programs may provide opportunities for neuroprotection and CNS repair. We are seeking a talented and motivated Specialist to participate in and run research projects in the field of cellular stress signaling in neurons. Primary responsibilities will be for the design and execution of experiments using common molecular and cell biological techniques, primarily cell culture and transcriptomic analysis, in collaboration with other lab members and the PI. Secondary responsibilities will consist of assisting in laboratory management duties. There will be opportunities for collaborations with other laboratories at UCSF, other academic institutions, and industry partners. This position also includes opportunities for skill training, career development, presentations, data analysis, developing and testing new hypotheses, and authorships, in alignment with the experience, interests, and contributions of the candidate.
