- UH: Cardiodiagnostic Lab - (Full-Time, Day Shift) - Our mission is to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Sonographer Echocardiology assists in performing simple and complex diagnostic echocardiography procedures on patients with cardiac dysfunction. Utilizes all cardiac imaging modalities (e.g. 2D, M-mode, Doppler, color flow, transesophageal, and stress echo). Works closely with medical staff to assure optimal echocardiographic quality. Produces teaching quality echocardiograms. Works with cardiologists, cardiology fellows, residents, nurses, students and patients. Measures or digitizes results and prepares records for review by the Cardiologists. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills. May be assigned to either adult or pediatric area. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed. Successful completion of a CAAHEP (The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) accredited cardiac ultrasound program. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentialing board in appropriate sub-specialty of department placement (adult echocardiology or pediatric echocardiology) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Able to communicate in English, relate positively, effectively, and professionally with other; be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math function; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail. Uses independent judgment and initiative. Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.
