Position description

The Department of Neurology, University of California at Davis, School of Medicine is recruiting a physician leader to serve as Section Chief of our growing division of Cognitive Behavioral Neurology. The position is offered in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) or Clinical Neurology series at the Associate or Full Professor rank, commensurate with experience.

The incumbents will serve as Section Chief of Cognitive Behavioral Neurology providing leadership, support, and strategic planning of the Section, including direction of its clinical, educational, and research efforts. The position requires strong leadership and management skills related to operational effectiveness, strategic planning, and clinical operations. The incumbent will provide guidance and mentorship to promote the success of faculty at all levels, recruit and retain faculty, develop strategies to enhance communication and collaboration in partnership with the department Chair, and create a safe, equitable and inclusive workplace.

All clinical faculty members must provide inpatient and outpatient clinic care; teach medical students, residents, and fellows; develop research and/or creative work; and provide University and public service.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will join an established Cognitive Behavioral Neurology program with dedicated clinical support within the UC Davis Healthy Aging Clinic. The program is actively involved in NIH- sponsored clinical trials research as well as investigator-initiated translational research, many in collaboration with the federally funded UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). The section also provides fellowship programs in neuropsychology and cognitive-behavioral neurology. UC Davis Health includes a large primary care network which makes many referrals for cognitive assessment that is supported by full time neuropsychologists.

The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. The department continues to expand with 60 clinical faculty across all neurological specialties, total faculty of 80, and excellent nursing, staff, neuropsychology, social work, clinical research, and pharmacological support.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* MD, DO or MD/PhD

* California Medical license or license eligibility

* Completion of an ACGME approved residency program and ABPN Board Certification in Neurology

* Demonstrated leadership ability, including working knowledge of budgets, clinical operations and efficiency and clinical strategy

* Accomplished academic record to meet the criteria of Associate or Full Professor level faculty appointment at the University of California

* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

The completion of a one to three year fellowship program in Geriatric, Cognitive and/or Behavioral Neurology or 5 years of clinical specialization in Cognitive Behavioral Neurology.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

To be eligible for the Clinical Neurology series, evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials.
