About the Position The Laundry Worker Lead operates commercial laundry equipment, delivers/transports items or individuals, and receives, unloads, and tracks supplies necessary for completion of jobs. This position supervises working inmates in the processing of laundry.

Experience
- Two (2) years of laundry or general laborer work experience.
OR Combined education and experience qualifications
- Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Other Requirements
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Training which may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; OSHA training; payroll training; PREA training.
- Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass an extensive background review.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS The tasks listed are a representation and not an all-inclusive list of essential job tasks for this position.
- Supervises from 30 and 60 working inmates in the processing of over 2 million pounds of laundry on an annual basis.
- Directs the washing and finishing of all work coming into the laundry.
- Tracks laundry cycles, statistics, and generates reports using computer.
- Determines the priority of work to be processed and performs frequent quality control checks.
- Assigns and supervises the training of working inmates new to the laundry facility.
- Assists in the ongoing training of laundry workers.
- Enforces laundry and jail security within the Laundry Services area.
- Prepares journal entries, memos, and informational worksheets as required.
- Maintains adequate supplies necessary for the laundry operation.
- Operates commercial laundry equipment and trains working inmates on equipment use.
- Handles chemicals for the washers.
- Prepares clothing orders for the facilities.
- Loads and unloads trucks.
- Be present at the work site to perform tasks as scheduled and/or assigned by supervisor.
Working Conditions Work occurs indoors in a jail laundry facility. Tasks require manual dexterity to handle laundry and operate laundry equipment. Position involves working in close proximity with others and the ability to interact with and oversee adult inmates in laundry services.
