POSITION: Group Host/Kitchen Help

DEPARTMENT: Camp Del Oro

SUPERVISOR: Guest Services Manager

STATUS: Non-Exempt / Hourly

BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to all guests of camp Del Oro as the primary host. This position will also assist in the upkeep and maintenance of camp and its buildings. The host will also maintain all kitchen and dining areas in a manner that presents a constant image of cleanliness, order and a high standard of sanitation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE when on shift, and let the guest staff know where you can be found. Always have your radio turned on and with you.
  2. Check with the retreat staff periodically to see if they need any assistance with anything.
  3. Fix and repair problems in as timely a manner as possible.
  4. Let the guest staff know when a problem has been repaired or what action is being taken to address the problem.
  5. Monitor the groups schedule for any special request items.
  6. Check voice mail on office phone, and deliver any messages received for the group.
  7. At 11:00 pm, make rounds and turn off lights in areas not being used. If still in use, remind the group of the "last one out" policy.
  8. Build a fire in campfire pit if requested.
  9. Locate sports equipment.
  10. Periodically check meeting rooms to see if the trash needs to be emptied or the bathroom needs restocking.
  11. Be flexible and accommodating. Our ministry and reputation are based on providing consistent quality service. Do whatever you can, within reason, to make sure the weekend is a success for the group.
  12. Sweep kitchen floor after every meal. Clean and maintain outside trash.
  13. Mop kitchen floor daily. Maintain walk-in fridge and freezer as directed.
  14. Assist in kitchen cleaning as directed by Lead Cook
  15. Assist with unloading of kitchen supplies
  16. Take garbage to dumpster. Place recycling in the recycle bin.
  17. Sweep and spot mop dining room floor after meals.
  18. Mop entire floor after the evening meal.
  19. You may be required to drive a camp vehicle while on the clock. You must provide a valid driver's license and pass a DMV motor vehicle check upon consideration of hire.
  20. Maintain the cleanliness and order of the mop area, trash area, and the washer/dryer room.
  21. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of the retreat.
  22. Assist the Camp Director and Lead Cook with other duties as needed.


Responsible for completion of the following prior to a groups departure:



  1. Distribute evaluation forms at the last meal of each group. Collect and leave in the office.
  2. Walk through facilities used by group with the retreat leader to assess any damage that may have occurred.


Responsible for completion of the following prior to closing down camp:



  1. Turn off lights and heat/air conditioning in all meeting and lodging rooms used by the groups.
  2. Make sure all buildings areas are secure. Lock all doors and windows.
  3. Turn dining room lights off.
  4. Take any remaining trash to the dumpster.
  5. Document any problems or repairs arising from the weekend.
  6. Turn off lights in the kitchen and lock it up.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  2. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects and tools.
  3. Ability to reach overhead
  4. Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
