As part of the Providence Philanthropy South Division shared services team and under the direction of the Executive Director of Donor and Community Engagement - South Division; the Senior Director will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to advance our philanthropic efforts along with a focus on promoting community health and health equity initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, a strong understanding of healthcare philanthropy, and a passion for driving positive change in underserved communities.

Specifically, this role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to effectively convey our organization's philanthropic initiatives and impact across the state of California.

Through exceptional leadership and continuous process improvement the senior director, philanthropic and community health communications will play a critical role in deepening the Foundations' relationships with their donors, community and inspire philanthropic support.

The Senior Director will lead a team of caregivers responsible for 14 ministries across: Northern California, Los Angeles, Orange County and High Desert markets. The senior director will provide vision and strategic direction to the team to provide best in class communications - by way of clear articulable process, strategy, expectation, and the like.

The Senior Director must work collaboratively and strategically with ministry, divisional and system leadership to advance our communication efforts throughout Providence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to effectively convey our philanthropic, community health and health equity initiatives and impact in the healthcare sector.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, program managers, and development teams, to identify key messaging priorities and target audiences.
  • Cultivate relationships with external partners, including donors, community organizations, and healthcare institutions, to amplify our philanthropic efforts and promote collaboration towards achieving health equity goals.
  • Lead the creation of compelling content, including press releases, blog posts, social media campaigns, and multimedia materials, to raise awareness and drive engagement around our healthcare philanthropy, community health and health equity initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on messaging and communication tactics to ensure alignment with our mission and values, as well as best practices in the healthcare industry.
  • Monitor and analyze communication metrics and outcomes to measure the effectiveness of our strategies and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in healthcare philanthropy, community health equity, and communications strategies, and apply insights to inform our approach.
  • Leads a team that is collaborative, innovative, process oriented and establishes best practice.
  • Ensures consistent, high-quality adherence to brand and "voice" standards across the south division ministry foundations.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to the ministry chief philanthropy officers and their teams in the south division.
  • Create and sustain an organizational culture that retains high performing caregivers and that is concordant with the mission and values of Providence.
  • Collaborate strategically with the donor relations team and special events team on activities such as (not limited to): recognition events, ribbon cutting events, anniversaries, campaign events, named spaces and the like.
  • Promote collaboration, sharing of information and best practices related to all area of responsibility.
  • Ensures accurate tracking for all projects, their status and associated deadlines and budget.
  • Leads creations of annual plans, goal setting, caregiver reviews and budget process for the team.
  • Ensures budgets are met by department teams.
  • Exceeds work standards by developing the highest quality production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards while quickly resolving operational problems and identifying work process improvements.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, effectively prioritizing work and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated success in all aspects of written communications.
  • Demonstrated experience working within time-intensive, results-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills to develop staff and volunteers.
  • Able to appropriately address dynamic priorities with sound judgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with outside vendors, ministry, division, and system staff.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and relational skills.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree In a related field (i.e., Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Health)
  • Master's Degree In Business, public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • 10 or more years' experience in communications, with a focus on healthcare philanthropy, community engagement, or health equity advocacy.
  • 8 years Leadership experience, preferably in a larger institution
  • Strong strategic and project management skills required.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies that drive measurable impact and engagement.
  • Strong understanding of philanthropy, healthcare systems, public health issues
  • Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
