Position Summary

The Janitor will have janitorial duties as well as operation and special events responsibilities. Working as the Maintenance Technician, the janitor will ensure that the facility is a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.

Essential Functions

Janitorial:



  • Perform general building maintenance, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replenishing bathroom and sanitation supplies, cleaning/sanitizing surface areas, vacuum, mop, buffing/waxing, washing windows, bathrooms, trash, and other areas of concern in the facility or vehicles as defined by the immediate supervisor.
  • Take direction from and assist Social Service Coordinator with heavy objects, trash removal, other duties as needed.
  • Set up and tear down for special events as needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for clients and staff.
  • Spot clean carpets when necessary.
  • Strip, buff, wax and/or shampoo and vacuum the floors.
  • Store and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain front and back of property.
  • Wash property fencing and railing on a regular rotation.
  • Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to the Corps Officer.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed.


Maintenance:



  • Troubleshoot and repair items as needed on Corps property.
  • Maintain operations at corps facility.
  • Make handyman repairs to facility as needed.


Operation:



  • Pick up, deliver and store supplies as needed.
  • Organize and maintain all assigned storage areas.
  • Maintain the vehicles, fill up gas tanks, report repairs as needed.
  • Assist all departments in transportation as needed, including kettles and camp seasons.


Special Events:



  • Assist on special events, community events.
  • Assist in Food Services preparation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management personnel.



Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as brooms and floor cleaning equipment, and reach overhead. Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, blower, lawn mower, and paint sprayer. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications



  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year's experience in housekeeping and/or grounds maintenance.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Food Handler's Card/Certification
  • Valid CA driver's License and Clean driving record.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with Cal/OSHA regulations.



  • Knowledge of housekeeping.
