First (Days) (United States of America) Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician to work a 14-week assignment in Microbiology!
  • Temporary Full Time, 14-week assignment
  • DAY shift: 5:00am-3:30pm; Every other weekend & holiday rotation
  • $48.00/hr (MLS/MT) or $45.00/hr (MLT)
  • ASCP or AMT certification required
  • No benefits

Job Description:

  • Performs laboratory tests; interprets results; documents and reports results.
  • Maintains department equipment, instruments, and tools.

Job Requirements:

  • AMT Medical Technologist (MT/MLT) or ASCP Technologist (MLS)
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist: Bachelor's Degree
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate's Degree
  • Previous microbiology culture reading experience

Job Summary

Performs laboratory tests; interprets results; documents and reports results. Maintains department equipment, instruments, and tools.

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical or biological science or Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution. ASCP or AMT certification required. Certification eligible applicants with American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT) may be considered with proof of eligibility prior to date of employment. Certification for eligible employees shall be acquired within one year from date of hire. Certification must remain current for continued employment.
