Job Summary: Development team focuses on fundamental skill development as well as athletic and personal growth. The Alpine U-System teams are focused on advanced to elite alpine racing skill development as well as athletic and personal growth. Race team coaches work with Development and Alpine Race Teams, with athletes ages 7-20.

Ski team coaches are responsible for the successful implementation of curriculum as developed and communicated by the Manager, Head Coach and or Director. Our Mission is to provide the best development opportunities for personal and athletic achievement while instilling passion for snow sports and appreciation of our Olympic history, legacy and legendary mountains. Success is measured by the quality of the athlete and employee experience, athlete success through skill acquisition and performance in skill assessments, parent satisfaction and athlete and employee retention.

Applicants must be 16 years of age.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $17.00 - $35.55 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties include the following; other duties may be assigned:

General Responsibilities:
  • Know and adhere to schedule, Time & Attendance expectations
  • Set up quality Training Environments: Transport and install necessary equipment for training, safety & security including closures, signage, training poles/panels, drills and other
  • Implement Team training at the direction of Team Manager: accountable for the quality of curriculum, products and services delivered
  • Execute against a long term athlete development focus: athlete retention and skill development
  • Adaptability to training environments and interpersonal dynamics
  • Help maintain quality and appearance of all Ski Team facilities and physical plant including Team Center, on-mountain training facilities, signage and program imaging and other
  • Stay current and adhere to company guidelines, policies and procedures including but not limited to: Employee Ski & Ride Policy, safety, behavior, appearance, travel, time & attendance and other
  • Communicate effectively with Team Members including guest and employees
  • Ensure and execute teamwork within the team, departments and company
  • Attend and positively contribute to required trainings and meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned and agreed to with Supervisor, Manager and/or Director


Guest and Employee Focus:
  • Meet, greet and interact with guests daily. Be a role model for others
  • Contribute to the quality of overall staff, including coaches and administrative staff, to deliver exceptional guest experience
  • Seek feedback and input from customers, athletes and parents when required
  • Contribute to a positive work environment for all staff.

Job Qualifications:

Attributes:
  • Current membership with US Ski & Snowboard
  • Extensive experience and credibility within the competition level/segment.
  • A proven track record of working in successful team(s).
  • Adherence to US Ski & Snowboard core values
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be a team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communicator
  • Basic level of comfort utilizing "smart" devices, tablets, video camera, etc


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • US Ski & Snowboard Membership

Preferred:
  • High School Diploma
  • US Ski & Snowboard Level 100 or Higher
  • PSIA or IFSA Certification
  • Prior applicable coaching experience


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and ski/snowboard. Employee must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, up to 90% or more of a normal work shift. Must be capable of frequently or constantly balancing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, handling and twisting. May require out of the ordinary skiing or snowboarding movements in order to assist children on the mountain. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 75bs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may encounter extreme winter cold and blizzard conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: This job may experience atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dusts, mists, gases, ventilation

Equipment Used in Job: hand tools, small power tools, bags or large duffels, bamboo poles, ropes and rope spools, banners, shovels, gates/poles, skis or snowboard

Safety/Protective Equipment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to wear eye protection, gloves, masks, helmet.
