POSITION SUMMARY:

Certified surgical technologist/ First Assist (CSTFA) are a vital team member in the care of the surgical patient. (CSTFA) will work under the supervision of the surgeon to provide safe and effective techniques for invasive surgical procedures. This is reflected in an environment that is safe, equipment functions properly, and maintaining patient safety during the invasive procedure. The CSTFA are considered an expert in sterile and aseptic technique with in depth knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and technologies to facilitate the surgeon to provide Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgeries and diagnostic procedures. This entails knowledge of specialized equipment for Bariatric procedures, maintaining an orderly surgical field and ability to pass instruments to the surgeon in a quick and efficient manner. The CSTFA is responsible to anticipate and prioritize the surgeon's needs during the various steps of the surgical procedure. They are responsible to ensure for sponge, needle and instrument counts as indicated by the procedure. Specimens are their responsibility for maintaining them in a manner that identifies and preserves the tissue, or item for pathology evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, skills and experience:

* High School graduate.

* Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology training program or U.S. Military Medical Core Training

* Minimum of 10 years' experience in a certified surgical tech role Preferred.

* Minimum 2 years of Bariatric Surgical CSTFA preferred.

* National certification preferred, but not required.

* Current BLS from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, or will obtain certification within 90 days of employment.

* Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service.
