Lunar Transportation: This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Document non-conformance tags for spacecraft fluids and propulsion subsystems
  • Analyze variations to part print specifications which effect part form, fit, and function
  • Evaluate and provide a course of action regarding the ultimate disposition of the parts
  • Develop and manage execution of work order procedures pertaining to nonconformance dispositions
  • Closely manage the fabrication, quality, post processing, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire fabrication process.
  • Evaluates areas of non-conformance regarding defects arising during the manufacturing process and as compared to the product definition requirements as defined by the drawings and associated specifications/documentation
  • Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
  • Disposition and investigate root cause of vehicle discrepancies and take ownership of implementation of preventative/corrective action.
  • Drive producibility excellence into integrated product team (IPT) designs - includes design for safety, manufacturing, assembly, maintainability, testing, cost, logistics, inspection, standards, etc.
  • Engage with suppliers and customers to resolve emergent nonconformance
  • Perform design engineering analysis of discrepant machined parts manufactured in an aerospace manufacturing facility
    • For example, it may be used "as-is" with rework to condition that is acceptable for use, repaired, or scrapped
    • This analysis will include, but is not limited to, performing tolerance stacks, fluid/thermal dynamic calculations, Non-Destructive Test.
  • Use-as-is (UAI) dispositions can still have a Supplier Quality (SQ) ticket submitted for corrective action to prevent future repetitive nonconformant occurrences that may cause similar defects in future (e.g. corrective action to control future UAIs)
  • Non-Conformances (NC) can be defects deviating from drawing, part specification document, etc. requirements
