THE OPPORTUNITY

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Clinical Informatics and Director of Health Informatics (ADCI) for UT Southwestern. This is a unique opportunity to provide a vision for an integrated clinical informatics program that promotes robust research and educational programs in the context of a top ranked and growing health system enterprise. As a leader in the school of medicine, the new ADCI will leverage the existing strengths and infrastructure at UT Southwestern to continue the development of a sophisticated and scalable clinical informatics program to serve the faculty, staff, and community in this rapidly evolving field.

Reporting to the Vice Provost and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research, Dr. Eric D. Peterson, MD, MPH, the ADCI will plan, organize, develop, and direct the academic growth and operations of clinical informatics across the entire UT Southwestern campus. The ADCI will also oversee an existing Master's degree and fellowship program in clinical informatics. The ADCI will be charged with developing the institutional strategy as it relates to clinical informatics for both research and clinical care. As data resources are foundational to artificial intelligence (AI), the ADCI will also be a strategic partner as the institution builds out its AI and predictive analytics capacities. The ADCI will also assume a leadership role within UT Southwestern's Clinical and Translational Science Award Program, where clinical informatics plays a vital role for clinical and translational scientists from across the campus. Additionally, the ADCI will promote and build upon partnerships with senior leadership across the University, healthcare partners, Medical School, School of Health Professions, and the School of Public Health.
