The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

SPA is in need of a Mid-level Risk Analyst (CBRN) to support our Critical Infrastructure Group. The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) provides technical, programmatic and analytical support to customers with missions in national security to include the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Group brings technical and operational expertise in fields of countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG staff collaborate closely with our clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products to meet the most demanding government standards and timelines.



Responsibilities

The Mid-Level Risk Analyst will provide advanced analytical support to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and apply rational, systematic, science-based techniques, and critical thinking to help inform and improve the Department's decision-making abilities for preparation, response and recovery to Weapons of Mass Destruction scenarios and Critical Infrastructure disruption scenarios. The Risk Analyst will participate in a wide range of modeling and analytical activities including, but not limited to, model design, implementation and operations, model use documentation, data transformation, database schema design, and data quality assurance process design, execution, and oversight. This includes assisting in identifying, prioritizing, and executing analyses to help demonstrate and expand analytical rigor and capability related to weapons of mass destruction (CBRN) and critical infrastructure disruption scenarios and working with a wide range of stakeholders to develop plans of action and timetables in order to meet established deadlines.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

    Bachelors' Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7-12 years of experience.
  • Experience in any of the following programming languages: Python, R, MATLAB, Java, C++, VBA, SQL.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines.
  • Experience developing compelling written and visual communications that are clear, concise, and suited to the audience.
  • Must have active DOD Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, quantitative social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with quantitative risk analysis.
  • Experience providing analytical support to the Department of Homeland Security.
