JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Part-Time Sleep Research Technologist

The Behavioral Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Penn State College of Medicine is recruiting 2 part-time Sleep Research Technologists to conduct sleep studies in research participants/patients with opioid use disorder. Primary responsibilities will be the application and monitoring of polysomnography measures (EEG, blood oxygenation, heart rate, respiration), maintenance of protocol integrity, and effective communication with the research team. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with research participants/patients who have opioid use disorder as well as familiar with polysomnography technology. This position is ideal for sleep technicians who are willing to work part-time and be part of this collaborative research team.

Work hours: This is a part-time, PRN position which includes applying polysomnography measures (EEG, blood oxygenation, heart rate, respiration) to research participants. The position requires travel to Caron Foundation at Wernersville, PA. There is no requirement for overnight monitoring and stay for this position. Work schedules will be determined by availability of research participants, typically between Monday to Sunday, between 8 pm to 12 midnight, with allotted 4 hours per each research patient. The candidate will be compensated on an hourly basis and will include travel time. No travel expenses will be paid separately.

Work Location: The primary work site will be Caron Treatment Center in Wernersville, PA.

Qualifications: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with one to two years of experience in performing Polysomnograms are preferred. Sleep technologists without RSPGT credentialing with two years of experience are encouraged to apply. Own transportation required to travel to affiliated research and clinical sites.

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
