JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Advising and Certification Center in the College of Education is seeking a highly motivated and professional Academic Advisor. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.

The position will be responsible for assisting in advising program development, suggesting best practices for advising improvement; providing academic advising to exploring and currently enrolled undergraduate students seeking information and admission to the College; interpreting university policies, procedures and curriculum to students and faculty; making professional referrals; maintaining confidentiality of student records; assisting in data management and preparation of reports, surveys and other assessment documentation.

The position may provide assistance to projects and undergraduate student success initiatives, as well as University-level academic advising-related searches and committee work. The Advisor may assist in the hiring and training of professional and support staff.

The Academic Advisor serves as a liaison among students, faculty, staff, campus and university constituents. Competencies critical to success include outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communications; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; effective problem-solving and organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail; the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines; the use of sound judgement and professionalism.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a successful candidate is identified. This position typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position will be located in-person on the University Park campus.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
