Recommissioning Engineer

The Building People, LLC, has an immediate opening for a Retrocommissioning (RCx) Engineer. The RCx Engineer will lead our team to facilitate comprehensive RCx and "retuning" services to large federal buildings in New England (MA, CT, VT, RI, ME, NH). Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience - preferrable with a focus on mechanical systems and building automation technology. In addition to a strong preference for a candidate with a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering, a qualified candidate will be familiar with work order management and fault detection platforms. The ideal candidates will be familiar with federal energy mandates and reporting as well. The position is structured to be primarily remote, with the ability to travel to sites in the New England area when site visits are required or meet with federal leadership.

Required Experience & Skills



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Facilitate whole building retrocommissioning and retuning to reflect current building use and needs
  • Ability to manage contract deliverables and subcontractors
  • Lead and conduct RCx activities, such as auditing, inventorying, baselining, benchmarking, implementation management, and measurement and verification (M&V)
  • Oversee HVAC techs and other technical personnel
  • Oversee and lead the drafting/consolidating of required documentation and reporting associated with RCx activities
  • Lead building assessment reporting. This may include identification of Energy and Water Conservation Measures (ECM or WCMs), improvements to sequences of operation, restructuring or establishing predictive/corrective maintenance programs, and other recommendations to improve building operations.
  • Assist the management and oversight of CMMS and Work Order systems (including throughput)
  • Understand the nuances of different utility markets and tariff structures
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in building in operations and maintenance


Preferred Experience & Skills



  • Familiarity with controls systems such as Distech, Lynxspring, Johnson, Honeywell etc.
  • Mechanical Engineering PE
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara



Required Education



  • Bachelors degree in relevant discipline.



Travel



  • As described, travel required to assigned buildings. No extended trips.



Background Investigation



  • Background Investigation required
  • Additional background checks required subject to system access



Physical Requirements



  • Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs
  • Must be willing to work at heights
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
