POSITION SUMMARY Manage associates in the Estimating Department supporting customers in specified regional locations / brand types driving profitable growth while remaining consistent with the company's Sales Process and Bidding policies. POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage associates in the Estimating Department, balance scheduling and workload to meet customer needs and maximize profitability. Develop and select effective bid strategies, working closely with external customers and internal resources including Regional Sales and Market Managers, and the Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing departments. Preliminary review and interpretation of projects / documents. Manage pricing approvals based on authority matrix. Coordinate with Sales to communicate all bid (no bid) information to customers. Establish, develop, and maintain a working relationship with key customers and influencers, and participate in activities necessary to close orders including customer calls/communication and travel as necessary to attend customer and project meetings. Ensure that the bid proposal and other information being provided to the customer accurately define the price and scope of work being provided. Partner with Regional Sales Manager to develop business plans for the region(s). Set departmental strategy, goals and direction participating in the development of short and long-term Operational Plans. Assist in the development and maintenance of the departmental budget. Develop talent to support achieving the goals of the department and organization. Create a culture to drive profitable growth. Foster collaborative culture both within and across departments. Develop and implement excellence in process and continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Process Improvement projects. Directly supervises associates in the team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, mathematics, business, or finance preferred. In lieu of a degree 10 or more years of relevant experience may suffice. Minimum of five years' experience in a technical or commercial management position, preferably for a recognized manufacturer. Estimating or design engineering experience is required.
