JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Electrical Engineering within the College of Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University in conjunction with the Computational Electromagnetics and Antennas Research Lab (CEARL) is seeking one or more highly qualified individuals for Postdoctoral Scholar positions. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.

The candidate will be expected to assist in the theory and design responsibilities for current as well as future high-profile research projects in the Computational Electromagnetics and Antennas Research Lab (CEARL). The PSU-CEARL http://cearl.ee.psu.edu/ is world-recognized for its pioneering contributions in electromagnetics, particularly in the areas of computational electromagnetics/optics and metamaterials. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in funded projects that will seek to develop advanced cutting-edge and transformative technologies. Current and upcoming areas of research include transmit- and reflect-arrays, metamaterial lenses, electronically scanned arrays, metamaterial-enabled reconfigurable antennas, phase-gradient metasurfaces, etc.

Requirements: Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a related field with previous experience in electromagnetic theory and simulation. Previous metamaterial and metasurface simulation and design experience for RF applications is highly desired. Experience with high-power microwave antenna design is required. Experience in antenna design, fabrication, testing, and measurements is desired. Previous experience with inverse-design and optimization is a plus.

Responsibilities: Antenna/metamaterial/metasurface design and simulation. Additionally, Postdoctoral Scholars will work alongside graduate students and other post-docs to prepare research reports for relevant sponsored research contracts and participate in proposal writing for new funding opportunities. Additionally, Postdoctoral Scholars will prepare and present research results at domestic and international conferences and is expected to publish findings in conference proceedings and technical journal articles.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
