JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Chopra Lab at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar. The position will focus on understanding epigenetic regulation during kernel development in maize. A Ph.D. in plant molecular genetics/plant physiology or related field of plant biology is the minimum qualification. Experience is required in plant molecular methods, genetic and epigenetic analysis, use of web based as well as wet-lab genomic tools for gene expression, DNA methylation and chromatin analysis. Candidate should be familiar with recombinant protein purification methods. The position also involves characterization of next generation sequencing data obtained from bisulfite-seq and ChIP-seq. Working knowledge of various bioinformatics tools for high throughput data analysis is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing research as well as compiling research findings into peer-reviewed journal publications. This is a limiter-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of renewal for a 2nd year. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
