AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Interpret blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, written, and verbal instructions,
  4. Train and instruct new technical level employees coming into this area of expertise,
  5. Supervise various personnel actions,
  6. Plan and schedule work to ensure proper space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties,
  7. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment,
  8. Installs, startups, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements,
  9. Assist in the establishment and performance of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities,
  10. Informs management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved,
  11. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment including, but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages, and test equipment,
  12. Perform any other maintenance duties as outlined in the union contract,
  13. Properly label all control panels and help each department in the identification of power sources,
  14. Play active role on the emergency response team,
  15. Ability to complete welding projects as needed,
  16. Perform other related duties incidental to the work as deemed necessary and as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required and two years of formal technical training.
  • Must have a Minnesota State Class A Masters Electrician licensure or certification.
  • Must have five years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures from blueprints, schematics, and sketches or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
