Asst Professor - Printmaking The University of Wyoming invites diverse applicants to consider our employment opportunities. JOB TITLE: Asst Professor - Visual Arts - Printmaking JOB PURPOSE: The University of Wyoming Department of Visual Arts welcomes applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Printmaking position, beginning August 2025. Qualified candidates will have the ability to oversee a comprehensive Printmaking classroom and curriculum. They will be able to teach a range of Printmaking processes including lithography, relief, intaglio, screen printing, letterpress, paper making, book binding, and be familiar with both analog and digital processes. Their experience should include teaching in a Printmaking curriculum, familiarity with various Printmaking pedagogies and approaches, and teaching students in a Liberal Arts setting. The successful candidate would also be able to teach, when needed, in a secondary area, such as Drawing, Foundations, or other studio areas of expertise. Desired skills include experience as a skilled communicator with the ability to communicate orally, in writing, and digitally; experience working in a collaborative team of educators; experience working with a wide variety of students; and experience in professional organizations like MAPC and SGC. Qualifications also include ongoing and strong engagement in scholarly, creative, and/or professional activities. The successful candidate will incorporate supportive and universal classroom policies and utilizing multiple methods of content delivery including in-person, online and hybrid modalities. The printmaking area stresses both the technical and aesthetic aspects of the medium, as well as discussions associated with current practice. The conceptual and expressive growth of each student is central. Students can study and develop both traditional and experimental approaches to printmaking, explore a range of approaches to multiples and variable image-making with analogue and digital processes, and consider tangential fields of book art, papermaking, screen printing, and letterpress printing, as well as interdisciplinary connections grounded in printmaking processes. Through studio practice and research, students acquire a foundational knowledge of printmaking and establish a firm technical base. Historical and contemporary printmaking are introduced through collections, research incorporated into assignments, and through interaction with visiting artists and conference participation. UW offers students and faculty alike opportunities to work closely with the University of Wyoming Art Museum, the American Heritage Center's archival collection, and the Neltje Center for Excellence in Creativity and the Arts. The UW Visual Arts Building, a state-of-the-art LEED Certified construction, was completed in 2012 and provides 79,000 square feet for undergraduate scholarship and studio art practice. The building features a public gallery, a large-capacity lecture hall, two student galleries, and space to accommodate a growing undergraduate program. The facility provides students and faculty with a safe and environmentally responsible space featuring natural light and views of the Snowy and Laramie Range Mountains. NASAD accredited, the department offers majors in Art Education (BA), Art History (BA), Studio Art (BA, BFA), and Visual Communication Design (BFA) and minors in Art History, Museum Studies, and a wide variety of studio practices. An individual office and faculty studio space is provided in the building and near the Printmaking Area. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
