GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The EDPR International Growth Structure (IGS) was created to promote and accelerate the International expansion of EDPR outside of the established operating platforms in the EU and US. Under the leadership of the CDO and of the Global Head of Business Development, the IGS is the end-to-end solution for EDPR to originate, structure, execute, build and operate renewable assets in the rest of world. Within the IGS, the International M&A team is instrumental in originating, analyzing, and executing the buy-side M&A opportunities (as well as organic investments and strategic analysis) that will allow EDPR to continue expanding its worldwide footprint and consolidating its standing as one of the major developers, owners, and operators of renewable assets in the world.

The International M&A Associate will analyze and execute worldwide strategic investments (M&A, partnerships, greenfield) for EDPR, working under the direction of the Director of International M&A. S(he) will also contribute and facilitate investment-related communications and decision-making within EDPR and EDP.

EDPR is a global leader in the renewable sector and the world's fourth-largest wind energy producer. With a sound development pipeline, first class assets, and market-leading operating capacity, EDPR has undergone exceptional development in recent years and is currently present in 14 markets.

Main accountabilities:



  • Perform valuations and prepare investment memoranda to assist EDPR/EDP decision-making bodies in global investment decisions
  • Ensure that investments are evaluated objectively and based on consistent group-wide approval procedures and criteria
  • Evaluate M&A opportunities weighting appropriately risk/return analyses
  • Coordinate external advisors (e.g. legal counsel, financial institutions) and direct internal EDPR teams (e.g. operations, wind, tax) for due diligence efforts during the execution of M&A transactions
  • Participate in strategic analysis projects (namely portfolio analysis and partnerships)
  • Analyze greenfield projects in terms of economic risk and strategic options and provide reports of findings
  • Analyze and support bid strategy for NBO/BO stages as well as for (Auction and Direct) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) bids
  • Support the preparation of EDPR business plan and impairment analysis, in coordination with the Corporate Investments and M&A Department
  • Additional duties as required

Minimum qualifications:



  • BA degree in Finance or a related field, MBA or MSc degree preferred
  • 4-6 years valuation/corporate finance experience, with at least 2 years direct M&A experience; big 4 or investment banking valuation background is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of valuation (FCFF and FCFE), financing, accounting, and strategic analysis; M&A due diligence experience is a plus
  • Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products. (Preferred)
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred
