BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of this position is to assist Sacramento County Social Services with Christmas efforts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interview's clients online and virtually and prepares all necessary paperwork for families to participate in the Christmas Program, and other types of assistance such as rent, utilities and food.
- Assists Supervisor with Christmas Assistance Program at Family Services and Cal Expo, specifically with the Angel Tree program.
- Provides intakes, assessment and financial assistance to low-income families and individuals.
- Prepares client files, enters client data into tracking sheets, compiles records and prepares reports.
- Maintains records of all persons interviewed and records either the type of assistance given or the reason why assistance was denied.
- Refers clients to community resources and other organizations as appropriate for the client's needs.
- Accesses and records client and community resource information.
- Completes and submits all required paperwork in a timely fashion as designated by the Supervisor. Meets deadlines and department productivity demands.
- Makes phone calls to past and potential toy donors and follow-up emails with donors.
- Answers and assists any Angel Tree and toy drive inquiries and questions.
- Orders Christmas supplies and maintains Angel Tree tags.
- Provides relationships with donors through phone and email.
- Composes and types routine correspondence with donors.
- Updates Christmas operation tracking spreadsheet in an Excel document daily.
- Organizes and maintains Christmas operation tracking spreadsheet, toy drive and Angel Tree response forms, tracking of tag delivery and drop off sheet, and other related Christmas donor records.
- Prepares Angel Tree delivery bags with appropriate assigned tags, handouts, posters, and numbered toy bags.
- Records and tracks toy barrel deliveries and pickups while maintaining correspondence with Operations Manager.
- Distributes Angel Tree tags and Angel Tree paperwork to appropriate personnel.
- Coordinates with Social Services using the Christmas registration database and software.
- Train at Social Services for Christmas application intakes and Christmas software.
- Communicate with the media sponsors, arrange tag delivery, and assign a date of pick up for them.
- Assist with Angel Tree at the malls and keep area neat and clean, as needed.
- Process Angel Tree tags as directed.
- Work well with, and train volunteers on the procedures of the Angel Tree program.
- Transfer toys to the storage area as needed.
- Deliver Angel Tree tags and pick up donations from donors when needed.
- Acts as role model within and outside the agency.
- Maintains a positive respectful attitude.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor about program issues.
- Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
- Represent the Salvation Army in the spirit of its mission to meet human needs.
- Present yourself professionally, including attire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of computers preferred (word processing and database).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, and interest.
- Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong data entry skills a must. Accuracy and speed required.
- Ability to perform daily duties to achieve expected outcomes and performance
- measures with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively present information over the phone and in small group situations to donors, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Able to multi-task and demonstrate good use of time management.
- Must speak and communicate professionally, clearly, and effectively through the phone.
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
- Ability to reach overhead
