The University of Missouri and the Sumner Metabolomics Research lab

Job Description

University of Missouri and the Sumner Metabolomics Research lab seek a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with experience in NMR analyses of plant/microbial natural products. The ideal candidate will have substantial hands-on, operational knowledge of NMR technologies, the ability to independently shim/tune/acquire 1D/2D NMR data, and the ability to elucidate structures of natural products using both 1D/2D NMR spectra and mass spectrometry. The successful candidate will have a PhD (Chemistry, biochemistry, plant science, biology) by the start of the appointment with post baccalaureate hands-on NMR experience. Candidates will be evaluated on having strong written and verbal communication skills as well as publications related to natural products NMR analyses. The successful candidate will focus on data generation and data deposition as part of a Natural Product Magnetic Resonance Database (NP-MRD.org) recently funded by NIH NCCIH. The NP-MRD.org is a collaborative project with Drs. John Cort (PNNL, PI), David Wishart (Univ. Alberta), Roger Linington (Simon Fraser Univ.), and Lloyd W. Sumner (MU). The successful candidate will also further develop and apply UHPLC-MS-SPE-NMR to the analyses of plant primary and specialized metabolites.

Qualifications

Candidates will have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or Plant Science and must have post-baccalaureate work experience in NMR analysis. At least 1-year hands -on NMR operational and maintenance experience beyond initial training courses.

Candidates will be evaluated on having strong written and verbal communication skills as well as publications related to natural products NMR analyses
