JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Penn State has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scholar to work with Prof. W.N. Brandt and collaborators. The successful applicant will conduct observational studies of cosmic surveys and active galaxies using data from XMM-Newton, Chandra, SDSS, Rubin LSST, and other forefront facilities. Research duties will involve the analysis of survey and active-galaxy imaging/spectral/variability data, the publication of scientific results, and the planning/implementation of new observing programs. Penn State has a significant community of surveys and active-galaxy researchers. It also has strong connections to Chandra, Swift, SDSS, Rubin LSST, and the Hobby-Eberly Telescope. Education and Experience A Ph.D. in Astronomy or Physics is required, and experience with cosmic surveys and active galaxy research would be an advantage.
