The National Security Sector (NSS) is hiring for an Aerospace Engineer to work in Dayton, OH (Wright-Patterson Air Force Base). As an Aerospace Engineer you will support and perform a wide range of aerospace and avionics, engineering, systems, hardware, software, testing, and analysis related activities. This opportunity is in anticipation of a contract award that is supposed to be announced this month!

What you'll be doing:

  • Utilize skills with hardware and software development and knowledge of aerospace engineering and avionics.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and integrate related requirements to support operational needs.
  • Conduct studies, technical assessments, and system analysis to determine performance and effectiveness of aerospace systems and concepts.
  • Participate in analysis and evaluations of capabilities and operational concepts to identify technology feasibility, operational viability, cost impacts, and more.
  • Analyze contractual documents, technical data, customer operation characteristics, and related reports.
  • Perform a wide variety of activities at customer sites and provide technical support to customers in solving technical problems.
  • Handle moderately complex products and/or problems of an advanced scope and may provide technical guidance to lower-level Analysts.
  • Use professional concepts, polices, and procedures to solve a wide range of advanced problems.
  • Work on problems of a diverse scope and exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies.
  • Ensure system requirements and specifications are consistent with operational deployment environments aerospace system design and testing.
  • Analyze and evaluate operational viability in relation to proposed concepts of operation and identifying new possible concepts of operation.
  • Monitor and analyze strategic and operational aspects of political, military, and economic developments.
  • Recommend innovative solutions for technical and operational problems.
  • Assist engineering in determining and solving equipment design problems.
  • Prepare operating and malfunction reports and associated documentation.
  • Monitor and document component and system tests.
  • Apply Model Based Systems Engineering Principles.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Three years of related experience in aerospace/avionics engineering, systems, hardware/software, analysis, and/or test.
  • Knowledge of system test and validation processes.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment and risk management.

Favorable if you have:

  • Five years of related aerospace or avionics experience.
  • Knowledge and assessment of sensor phenomenology.
  • Able to use data reduction tools to analyze raw data and identify system limitation factors.
  • Background in Developmental or Operational Testing.
