The University of Virginia is seeking Temporary Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Certified Nursing Assistants assist with caring for patients. They prepare patients for appointments by obtaining vital signs and entering into EMR, maintain clinic flow, assist staff with procedures, ensure patient safety, maintain infection-control standards, prepare patients for discharge/home care, and maintain unit supplies and equipment. Responsibilities include:
The ability to communicate effectively and coordinate work-flow of patients through a clinic is essential. The ability to perform basic computer skills, and perform unit maintenance skills is required. Knowledge of EKG, and ear irrigation procedures, processing of sterile supplies, and collecting and handling lab specimens is also necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS A high school diploma and one year of experience providing hands-on healthcare to patients in a medical setting is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed some college coursework. Certified Nursing Assistant certification/licensure and an eligibility to practice in the State of Virginia is required, however applicants may also be license-eligible by the start date of the position. CPR certification is also required, while current BLS certification preferred.
