WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Siloam Springs location, you will be an Engineering Technician providing support for material and product development.

  • This position is vital to Gates because you'll be supporting the fabrication of prototype samples, documentation of manufacturing feasibility trials, testing, data analysis and reporting.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because you will be coordinating across organizational boundaries to complete development tasks and small development projects.
  • You'll be an individual contributor and may have oversight of other technician's activities to facilitate review of test procedures, review of lab order files and review of lab order database entries. May also assign testing to other technicians as required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing support to engineers and development teams for product and process development.
  • Supporting Mechanical and / or electrical Repair and Maintenance (R&M) of prototype equipment.
  • Arranging sample material, building, and measurement of prototype/experimental development projects. Set-up, operating, and maintaining prototype equipment, and measurement systems. Collecting data and reporting results using some statistical tools.
  • Supporting complex continuous improvement and quality activities such as procedure and process improvements.
  • May assist with providing training to other technicians on procedures and equipment.
  • May assist with activities to standardize procedures and write work instructions.

ABOUT YOU

  • 2-5 years' general experience preferably in a Manufacturing environment .
  • Some knowledge of product lines (hoses, couplings, belts, tensioners, etc.).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to meet training objectives in Training Matrix applicable to group at this level at manager's discretion.
  • In most situations you will communicate protype sample related information directly with engineering.
  • Analyzes and trouble shoots protype sample related equipment and/or procedural issues.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills.
  • Strong planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Some understanding of electromechanical control systems.
  • Some understanding of hydraulic or power transmission systems.
  • Ability to set-up and utilize data acquisition systems.
  • Forklift qualified, if applicable.
  • Travel: less than 5%.
  • Excited to work onsite with great teammates.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

PAY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
  • 401(k): 3% company contribution and additional 3% company match
