MISSION STATEMENT

The Salvation Army in Mesquite Nevada is looking to fill a Case Worker position. The successful candidate for this position will have strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. . This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, and more.

The Case Worker will conduct interviews and assess immediate and long term needs to develop case plans. This person will provide case management and needed services to low income and/or at-risk individuals/families in compliance with program policies and procedures. This person will maintain accurate program records and prepare monthly reports to the Family Services Ministries Coordinator in a timely fashion. This position will work in the food pantry assisting clients, stocking shelves, and bagging food to be distributed. This employee will network with other agencies and organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred
  • One (1) year case work or related experience
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Knowledge of criteria for food, rent, and utility assistance and the processes to enroll participants
  • Ability to use HMIS and Family Services software program
  • Ability to access at risk participants and situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and file management skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage time
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
  • Ability to work flexible days and hours, including weekends
  • Must possess a valid Nevada driver's license and pass a motor vehicle record check


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
