What You'll Do:

We are hiring a new Staff Accountant in Nashville, TN to join our Construction Accounting group at the Hermitage site! As the Staff Accountant, you will prepare and upload assigned journal entries necessary to close the General Ledger at month-end, as well as preform reconciliations of assigned General Ledger accounts for accuracy, and other monthly reporting/analytical tasks necessary to report financials at month-end. You will work with other Vulcan departments, ie. Legal, Risk Management, Benefits, Financial Reporting, as well as others outside of Vulcan, to provide timely reports and receive needed information for accruals and analysis. You will also assist other team members as needed during the month by employing the continuous accounting standard within the Accounting Department.

General Responsibilities:

Analyze Data. Analyze and reconcile financial and statistical data.

Perform Month-End Tasks. Process and prepare month-end journal entries, reconcile accounts, and research issues.

Deadlines. Participate in closing activities under tight deadlines.

Maintain Records. Maintain accounting records in accordance with Company policies and GAAP.

Prepare Reports. Prepare ad hoc analysis, 10K schedules, and other monthly and quarterly reports as required.

Collaborate. Assist your supervisor and other coworkers as needed. Provide assistance and additional help on time-sensitive special projects. Employ effective team-building skills in order to work in a group or to assist in bringing a group to consensus.



Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Must have a BS Degree in Accounting.

Experience. Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of general accounting or cost accounting experience. Public accounting experience is a plus. Construction accounting preferred. ASC 842 Lease Standard experience preferred.

Organizational Skills. Must have strong organizational skills and display attention to detail. Must have strong time management skills. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have strong communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization. Must have excellent customer service skills.

Technology Skills. Must have strong computer skills, including skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
