Associate/Full Professor of Surgery - Adult Thoracic Surgeon, Section Chief of Thoracic Surgery

The Department of Surgery, Division of Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic Adult Thoracic surgeon to be the Section Chief of Thoracic Surgery. Candidates must be board certified in Thoracic Surgery. Candidates must also have at least 5 years of experience in adult thoracic surgery at an academic medical center, proven leadership skills, and a track record of program building and academic accomplishment. Candidates with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery are strongly encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing all clinical, academic, research, and administrative activities in the section of Thoracic Surgery. This includes leading a team of surgeons and healthcare professionals, promoting innovative surgical techniques, advancing research in thoracic surgery, educating the next generation of thoracic surgeons, and providing exceptional patient care. The selected candidate will also collaborate with other departments and divisions to promote interdisciplinary approaches to patient care, research, and education. Successful candidates must have a proven track record of program building as well as effective leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be considered. Applicants should have a national reputation for clinical excellence and scholarship in thoracic disease.

Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's residency training and educational programs.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $184,700 - $393,200. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation
