As a Repair Development Engineer, you'll provide support, through technical expertise and experience, necessary to develop new processes and new repairs on aerospace components.

What you'll do:

- Recognize and understand flight/product safety critical parts and processes.

- Immediately report flight/product safety concerns.

- Participate in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.

- Recognize and understand the Just Culture policy.

- Participates in all phases of product/process development.

- Provide analytical support, evaluation and calculations for new repair development studies and subsequent initiation including cost benefit analysis, evaluating end-user performance and providing cost and schedule estimates for proposed work packages.

- Provide support and consultation services with regard to new technologies and the development of new repairs and processes.

- Prepares engineering reports and data packages for repair development substantiation and approval.

- Provides the technical expertise and experience necessary to make airworthiness engineering decisions regarding major repair design activities, in accordance with the company design approval organization manual.

- Provide direction for continuous improvement of component repair methods and capabilities.

- Compile and analyzes data on repairs; identify root causes and rectify; develop measures of performance on all repair processes.

- Support the production development group activity in modifying and refining existing repair schemes to eliminate and/or reduce the number of rejects occurring.

- Provide technical training support or mentoring for repair development and metallurgical analysis.

- Direct acquisition of equipment as required to meet repair development objectives.

- Establish and monitor equipment safety issues.

- Observe all applicable safety requirements and report immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

- Implement special projects as assigned.

What skills you will use:

- Your ability to be fully conversant with testing methods and experiment design to meet airworthiness compliance program requirements

- Your BS in Engineering or Materials Science (required) or MS in Materials Science (preferred)

- Your 2-4 years experience in repair process support and / or development (minimum)

- Your 5-8 years experience in repair process support and / or development (preferred)

- Your thorough knowledge of aerospace materials

- Your thorough knowledge of typical repair processes for aerospace applications (thermal spray, welding, brazing, coatings, machining)

- Your thorough knowledge of testing methods and inspection techniques for aerospace applications.

- Your strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.

- Your exceptional project management skills.

- Your knowledge of company process, company instruction and rework process instruction manuals.

- Your extensive knowledge of gas turbine engine theory and performance.

- Your ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.

- Your expertise in MS Suites (Excel, Outlook, MS Word. Access and PowerPoint)

- Your knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
