The Position:
Under direct supervision, facilitates the provision of recreational activities for City citizens. This is accomplished by providing numerous forms of customer service at athletic facilities. Other duties may include registering citizens for classes, camps and activities, processing POS transactions, registering citizens for membership, opening and closing duties, maintaining the facility, supervising and maintaining the climbing wall, providing various administrative services and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position may provide direction to other employees.
Please Note: This position requires the ability to work various special events throughout the year.

- Provides customer service by greeting members, answering and directing phone calls, providing facility information, including class schedules, hours of operation and policies, distributing equipment, supervising member activities within facility and by answering member questions and concerns.
- Registers citizens for membership, classes, camps and activities by operating ACTIVE software, entering data, ensuring necessary paperwork is completed, filing records and providing members with pertinent information regarding the facility and registration.
- Processes Point-Of-Service transactions by operating ACTIVE Software, entering and recording sales transactions and taking payments.
- Assists in opening and closing facilities by organizing front desk work area, accounting for cash levels and printing reports for reconciliation of check/cash levels and record of daily transactions.
- Supervises the climbing wall by ensuring patrons are using proper techniques. Maintains the climbing wall by moving and tightening pegs, checking equipment and cables for wear and tear.
- Maintains facility, interior and exterior, by reporting complaints and problems, making calls for repair, handling customer complaints where appropriate, identifying current risk and forecasting potential problems.
- Provides various administrative services by ensuring safety in front lobby, assisting with development of brochures, signs and other marketing tools, maintaining adequate levels of supplies and marketing tools, assisting with special events and providing clerical based services.
- Assists with training, assignment, and review of daily tasks of staff.
- May serve as Manager on Duty by opening/closing the facility, ensuring protocols are followed for building security, financial controls, and patron/staff safety.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- High School diploma and one (1) year of relevant work experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
- Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment
Schedule
- Monday - Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday 4pm-8pm with rotating weekends.
Knowledge Of:
- Customer service principles in a community recreation environment.
- Recreation facility operations, including classes, camps, events, and memberships.
- Recreation management and point-of-sale systems (e.g., ACTIVE Net).
- Cash handling, daily reconciliation, and basic financial procedures.
- Climbing wall safety standards and equipment maintenance.
- Facility maintenance practices and risk identification.
- City policies and PRIDE values: People First, Respect, Integrity, Deliver, Excel.
- Conflict resolution and customer service issue management.
- Emergency response procedures, including CPR and first aid.
- Staff supervision, task assignment, and performance review.
- Administrative tasks, including brochure development and supply tracking.
- Facility opening, closing, and security protocols.
Skilled In:
- Providing courteous, informed, and effective customer service.
- Registering participants and processing payments accurately using recreation software.
- Communicating clearly with patrons, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Supervising climbing wall activities with a focus on safety and proper technique.
- Addressing and resolving customer concerns professionally.
- Monitoring facility conditions and coordinating maintenance needs.
- Leading and supporting part-time staff in daily operations.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk environment.
- Managing multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Exercising sound judgment when serving as Manager on Duty.
- Supporting events and programs through clerical and operational assistance.

- Work is primarily performed indoors in a recreation facility, with occasional outdoor assignments.
- Frequent sitting with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling.
- Use of hands for computer and equipment operation.
- Visual and auditory ability to read printed materials and computer screens and to observe activities and communicate clearly.
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and public interaction.
- Required to work one evening shift per week and participate in a rotating weekend schedule as assigned.
