As a Test Engineer in the Integration and Test (I&T) team supporting the Mechanisms Integrated Product Team, you will be supporting our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Planning and developing test plans and procedures for vehicle level development and qualification testing.
  • Support daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers.
  • Apply direct experience to component or integrated vehicle test planning and execution of structural, unpressurized docking, pressurized docking, hatches, fluids testing, or equivalent.
  • Experience with test instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems.
  • Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the vehicle level and subsystems, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the pertinent requirements.
  • Assist with design, procurement, and installation of test support equipment; help monitor vendors and subcontractors during installation.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing.
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks.
  • Find opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings.
  • Assist with preparing status updates and communicates both within the organization and with direct customers.
  • Support frequent inter-organizational and customer interactions on difficult technical issues.
  • Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions.
  • Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews.
  • Assist with procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns.
  • Help coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing.
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including structural, mechanical, Fluids, or related test experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience with fluids and mechanical systems/components testing.
  • Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews.
  • Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process.
  • Understands/experience with hazardous operations.
  • Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language).
