Ridgeview Facilities is looking to add an experienced engineer to our Waconia team! Engineers at Ridgeview repair and maintain a variety of different types of systems and equipment in order to support our patients, staff, and visitors everyday!

The right candidate will have experience in maintenance and plant operations on mechanical equipment in a healthcare setting, and can handle a variety of tasks that are mission critical to the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This position is primarily first shift, with a rotating week of second shift and on call every 4-5 weeks as needed.

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for managing and executing a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks supporting multiple facilities.

Job Functions


  1. Can independently execute tasks related to the following systems - and teach/train others: basic/finish carpentry, basic electrical tasks, small equipment operation, basic plumbing tasks, physical movement of furniture, fixtures and equipment, lawncare, small motor repair, medical gas and air systems, water softening systems, domestic hot/cold water systems
  2. Can independently execute tasks related to the following systems: hospital beds, lock, key and hardware tasks, large motor repair, hydronic pump maintenance, kitchen equipment, advanced troubleshooting using building automation systems, fire alarm systems, steam and hot water boilers, refrigeration systems, reverse osmosis water systems.
  3. Can execute tasks related to the following systems under supervision/guidance from others: irrigation systems, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC fan systems, HVAC air balancing and pressure control, design and architecture of building automation systems, surveillance systems, nurse call, access control (card readers), overhead paging, basic knowledge of circuitry and electronics and clinical telemetry systems.
  4. Demonstrates the ability to independently troubleshoot, identify, follow up and correct a variety of building deficiencies.
  5. Coordinates assigned areas of responsibility to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  6. Works a rotating schedule of first shift, mid-shift (11a-7:30p), and second shift (2p-10:30p), with rotating on-call duties as needed.

Minimum Education/Work Experience


  • Ability to understand and navigate construction blueprints
  • Awareness of health care life safety codes and standards (NFPA 99 and 101)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Demonstrates effective skills in planning and organizing daily activities
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

License/Certifications


  • Boilers license (special) - ability to obtain within 1 year of employment
  • Valid MN driver's license and meets Ridgeview's insurability requirements
  • Hazardous Spill Certification within 1 year of employment, annually thereafter
  • Asbestos Awareness Certification within 1 year of employment, annually thereafter
  • OSHA Certification within 1 year of employment ,annually thereafter

Preferred Qualifications


  • Associates degree
  • 5+ years of work experience in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated experience working with building automation systems
  • Unlicensed electrician certification
  • 1st class Boilers license
  • CPR Certification
