Requires advanced knowledge of telecommunications Outside Plant (OSP) to perform design and engineering activities for outside plant projects and transmission equipment.

Works under limited supervision. Provides guidance and occasional supervision for less experienced Plant Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design simple to complex engineering plans using computer and/or manual drafting for assigned outside plant projects by analyzing existing plant capabilities and determining new plant specifications.
  • Ensure projects as deigned in accordance with established transmission requirements and design criteria.
  • Generate time and cost estimates, coordinate design changes, and monitor projects for completion within budget and project timelines.
  • Participate in long and short-range network planning and design, forecasting OSP and building space requirements, preparing cost/benefit alternatives and recommending projects for incorporation into capital budget.
  • Procure official documents from state, county and city government agencies, as well as private developers, landowners, outside contractors, and other public utilities to forecast need and obtain right-of-way when installing outside plant facilities.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction or equivalent in experience. 5+ years' telecommunications experience involving OSP construction and maintenance.
