The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a board-certified or board-eligible Neonatologist to join the Department of Pediatrics. This full-time Neonatologist position will join a busy academic comprehensive care NICU in the OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois.

Key details:
  • Quaternary Care NICU: As a regional referral center, our 64-bed unit manages various neonatal pathologies. We cater to approximately 800 NICU admissions per year and support over 2,300 deliveries annually.
  • Level IV NICU: The Level IV NICU manages complex neonates, offering ECMO, high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hyperthermia, and complex cardiac and neonatal surgical care.
  • Collaborative Environment: Our neonatologists work alongside a full multidisciplinary team, including Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs), Neonatal-Perinatal Fellows, and Residents.
  • Education Focus: As a regional campus of one of the nation's largest public medical schools, we prioritize high-quality educational opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Vermont Oxford Network: Our NICU actively participates in the Vermont Oxford Database Network, contributing to outcomes research, clinical trials, and quality improvement projects.


Position Summary

Join the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria as a full-time Neonatologist. We are searching for a Board-certified or Board-eligible Neonatologist interested in providing clinical care and teaching in an academic setting. You will be part of a 12-physician team at a busy 64-bed quaternary care NICU in Illinois's 3rd largest Children's Hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proven acute and ongoing consultative care to neonatal children with problems in the hospital and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Participate in collaborative research and scholarly quality improvement activities within the Neonatology Division and Pediatrics Department.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member, including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and mentoring.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent degree
  • 3 years residency and 3 years neonatal-perinatal in an ACGME-accredited fellowship
  • Board certification in Pediatrics is required.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatology.
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Enthusiasm to provide clinical care and teaching in an academic setting.
