  • Full Time
  • Hours: M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
  • Required Travel: None

What you will need:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • At least two (2) years overall nursing experience with at least 6 months in any of these areas: Emergency unit, CCU,ICU
  • Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills.
  • Communicates effectively; able to work as a team with other allied health and nursing personnel.
  • Current RN Illinois license
  • Must have ACLS within in 3 months of hire
  • Must have American Heart Association CPR

General Summary:

As an experienced practitioner, is accountable for providing high quality, individualized, goal-directed care for all levels of patients in accordance with the philosophy of the Division of Nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of Swedish Hospital and demonstrates a service orientation and adheres to all responsibilities and standards of the Hospital.

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of assigned cardiac patients based upon current nursing standards and practices.
  • Administers cardiac stress testing including pharmacologic stress testing.
  • Ability to interpret EKG rhythms and 12-lead EKGs
  • Performs TEE, Cardioversion and Tilt Table exams
  • Provides clinical guidance for staff in the provision of patient care.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic working environment and recognizes the need for action in emergency situations, and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Enhances own professional growth and development.
  • Reads, discusses and evaluates current research for possible implementation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing/hospital policies and procedures, nursing committee activities, and unit-based quality assurance/improve activities.
  • Demonstrates cost-containment in the provision of patient care.
  • Perform IV puncture on outpatients

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Develops and teach cardiac rehab educational programs focused on heart disease prevention.

PATIENT CARE/AGE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Staff nurses working in specialty areas possess a knowledge of procedures specific to that patient population including age specific needs, e.g. a Staff Nurse working with pediatric patients would receive credentialing regarding the needs of children and adolescents. Each unit is responsible for providing specific credentialing.

ENVIRONMENT

  • May be in an upright position and moving about most of the working time.
