Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. Essential skills and responsibilities include:
Development of new business for land development projects in collaboration with other Geosyntec practice areas.
- Cross sell services to support other practices within the Carolina's and Mid-Atlantic region.
- Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
- Developing and/or reviewing technical drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and analyses for: civil design; site development and grading; stormwater management; and erosion and sediment controls;
- Completion or review of civil and stormwater management design packages;
- Providing construction engineering support to large civil-design projects;
- Completing construction quality assurance (CQA) tasks for large civil-design projects;
- Providing oversight and project management of multi-disciplinary projects and assistance in managing Client Programs;
- Developing and maintaining strong collaborative internal (i.e., within Geosyntec) and external (i.e., clients and subcontractors) relationships;
- Mentoring and developing early career engineers;
- Recruiting, training, and mentoring early-career engineers; and
- Preparing task orders and proposals including scope of work, cost/fee estimates, schedule, presentations, etc.
- Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, boater certification, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., PE) (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years (15+ preferred) of progressive experience in consulting industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Managing complex interdisciplinary projects for private and public sector clients
- Effective business development and client management skills
- Leveraging multidisciplinary capabilities to win new work
- Technical leadership for civil design, landfill design, and site layout
- Managing successful practice growth
- Performing civil design and site grading. (required)
- Performing hydrologic/hydraulic analyses and designing stormwater infrastructure. (preferred)
- Task and project management. (required)
- Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
- Relevant engineering software. (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D, SWMM, HydroCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
