Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer performs all cardiac ultrasound (echocardiograms); Produces images of the heart to show hemodynamics and function via cardiac ultrasound. Cardiac images are digitally acquired, and measurements obtained. Ensures patient safety through use of procedure protocols and policies. Continues to hone their skills and techniques as a beginner sonographer. Further developing their technical skills and learning the different procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required,

  • Graduate of a two (2) year Allied Health Training Program, Ultrasound Technology program preferred

  • Bachelors program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or graduate of an accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred

  • 0-4 years experience inpatient/outpatient cardiac ultrasound.

  • New Mexico State Licensure under the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program (NMRTT)

  • BLS certification required at time of hire

  • Required: ARDMS/RDCS credential with one of the following specialties: AE, FE, PE; or one CCI credential: RCS, RCCS. Certs: BLS, NMRTT
