401k & Company Match BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE BBU seeks a Labor Relations Manager to support sales, manufacturing and distribution operations by leading contract negotiations, providing day-to-day counseling and participating in special project work. The successful candidate will operate within a matrix organization with primary reporting responsibility to the Director of Labor Relations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS The Labor Relations Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Represent BBU as the chief spokesperson in collective bargaining with unions for multiple functions.
- Provide strategic advice and counsel, as well as tactical guidance, to internal stakeholders in support of business priorities.
- Effectively model and understand the cost impact related to bargaining proposals/contract settlements.
- Collect and analyze internal and external data for use in developing labor strategy and formulating bargaining proposals.
- Provide coaching, guidance and training to build and promote best practices in the area of contract administration and labor-management relations.
- Work closely with business leaders to proactively respond to shifting business needs and associated labor implications.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with union counterparts to support mutually beneficial initiatives and resolve disputes and grievances.
- Direct multi-functional teams in preparation of negotiations.
- Draft precise and effective internal and external communications.
- Assist in preparing for arbitrations and other legal or administrative agency hearings.
- Serve as Company trustee on multi-employer health and welfare and pension funds.

- Willingness and ability to drive change that enables maximum operational efficiency and productivity in a competitive marketplace.
- Ability to compile and analyze business data for purpose of formulating labor strategies and managing cost impact of proposals/settlement to business.
- Ability to organize and prioritize competing business demands and capacity to delegate appropriately.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% with extended overnight travel required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate posseses the following education and experience:
- 3-6 years of experience in Human Relations, Labor Relations or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years hands on labor relations experience.
- Bargaining experience preferably in a manufacting or sales enviorment. First chair preferred.
- BA in Labor Relations, Human Relations or related field. MA or JD preferred.
