Refinery Production Operator

Reports to: Refining Supervisor

Job Summary: The Metallurgical Refining Operator will be responsible for learning and working in various metallurgical refining processes, including electroplating, hydrometallurgical techniques, and finished production tasks. This role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to handle chemicals safely, and proficiency with material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of refining or plating processes and a willingness to develop expertise in these areas.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Learn and operate a variety of metallurgical refining processes, including electroplating, hydrometallurgical refining, and finishing tasks.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to carry out refining processes, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Handle chemicals safely during processing, mixing, and material preparation, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Operate manual and powered material handling equipment, such as forklifts, hoists, or conveyors, to move materials and products within the facility.
  • Monitor production equipment and process parameters, making adjustments as needed to ensure efficient and accurate operations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting process or equipment issues and perform routine maintenance tasks as necessary.
  • Record production data, including process parameters, material usage, and output, maintaining accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure production schedules are met and that the quality of finished products meets specifications.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and safety training sessions to enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in metallurgy, chemistry, or related fields is a plus.
  • Experience in refining, electroplating, or hydrometallurgical processes is preferred but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals and adhere to hazardous material protocols (knowledge of Safety Data Sheets [SDS] preferred).
  • Experience using manual and powered material handling equipment (forklift certification is a plus).
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail for tracking production data and adjusting process parameters.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
