About the role:

Gartner Consulting is seeking a Director-level consultant specialized in Data & Analytics strategy consulting to support our Central Region State & Local Government (SLG) clients.

What you'll do:

Our Consulting Directors are responsible for project management, project delivery, and providing thought leadership on our engagements. You will lead teams of varying sizes that include one or more delivery consultants and/or subject matter expert(s), overseen by a Managing Partner. We advise clients at the strategic level on both big-picture and tactical matters, focusing on how technology can advance an organization's mission, vision, and desired outcomes. You will be on the front lines of customer relationship and stakeholder expectation management, working to grow the account and identify potential expansion opportunities.

Note: While this role is targeted to support our D&A projects in SLG, you may also be asked to support other types of strategic consulting engagements and business development efforts, across other industries, as necessary.

Data and Analytics Domain Knowledge:

Today, our Data & Analytics projects center around advising our clients across two key areas:

  • Data & Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy

  • Data Governance and Architecture

The ideal candidate is passionate about helping organizations envision how to leverage Data & Analytics to further their organizational goals, advise on industry best practices, make wise investments, and mature their internal capabilities.

A Director-level Consultant in our D&A practice is experienced in the following:

  • Advising on data strategy, data governance, and developing D&A use cases that identify how technology can advance business / program objectives

  • Collaborating with client business and technical stakeholders to envision the "art of the possible" and set the strategic direction for the organization, identifying initiatives, prioritizing them, and developing a roadmap for execution

  • Advising on the latest technology trends in D&A and the common solutions / platforms in the market; conducting customized market research and documenting findings

  • Helping advise our clients on the sourcing of those solutions, including writing requirements, statements of work, and support our clients in evaluating, selecting, and negotiating with D&A solution providers / vendors

  • Advising, developing, or enhancing clients' Data and Analytics standards

  • Helping clients develop practical Data Governance strategies and related charters, policies, and business processes

  • Helping clients navigate decisions related to AI, including AI strategies, use cases, and governance

  • Writing exceptional consulting-style deliverables, with an attention to detail and passion for creating exemplary work products that can be easily consumed by both business and technical stakeholders

  • Presenting to a wide variety of stakeholders, including C-Suite and Executive Leadership of organizations, governance boards, etc.

  • Planning and facilitating workshops with client stakeholders, including managing the internal team towards execution

  • Serve as the project manager, inclusive of planning all internal tasks, managing team member workload, developing and executing a project schedule, and other engagement management responsibilities, such as quality assurance of deliverables

  • Provide advice, coaching, and mentorship to internal Gartner team members on technical expertise

  • Advance Gartner's IP and solution offerings within the D&A consulting market

  • Support Managing Partners in business development efforts and sales pursuits, including client meetings and proposals

What you'll need:

  • Prior experience within a management or technology consultancy in a project delivery capacity for D&A/AI

  • Passion for working with public sector clients

  • Familiarity with the D&A solution market and technologies

  • A consistent track record of leading people and driving high-performing project teams

  • An ability to inspire and motivate stakeholders from both technical and non-technical backgrounds towards a common goal

  • Comfortable influencing and building trust-based, value-added relationships with senior executives, both internally and externally

  • Coachable and embracing of best practices and feedback as a means of continuous improvement

  • A consistently high achiever marked by perseverance, humility and a positive outlook in the face of challenges who is committed to client satisfaction

Preferred:

  • MBA or other advanced degree or certification

  • 7+ years' experience with a major consultancy or boutique firm

  • Austin or Chicago based

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 166,400 USD - 201,020 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
