math.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics to start in August 2025. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment; the initial appointment is for one year with the potential for annual reappointment. For the annual renewal, candidates should provide at least one year of evaluations as instructor of record illustrating high quality teaching effectiveness.

This position is a non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. The position entails conducting research leading to publication, engaging in creative and/or scholarly activities, designing graduate and undergraduate courses, developing and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field, providing curriculum material, constructing syllabi, leading classroom instruction, writing and administering exams, mentoring and evaluating students, creating interest and understanding among students, serving on various faculty- and student-oriented committees, providing service on campus and in related professional organizations, and participating in faculty governance in the department and on campus. The position involves performing research activities connected to an established research group at the department. The Department of Mathematical Sciences has established research groups in algebra, analysis, applied mathematics, and topology. The University of Arkansas is a public research university in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and is rated R1 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers degrees with focuses on applied math, pure math and statistics. Courses prepare students for careers in secondary education, actuarial science and industry and graduate school.   • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Mathematics (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment
