Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Public Affairs seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial Director for the Survey Research Center to elevate the center's visibility and impact through enhancing public relations, forging new partnerships, and improving outreach efforts. The Director provides project leadership for all components of applied research projects including: initial consultations, study design, sampling structure, questionnaire development, data management, statistical analysis, report writing, and client presentation. The Director generates grants and contracts to help fund the Survey Research Center's operations; oversees client development & relations; and manages the operations and personnel of the Survey Research Center. This position reports to the Director of the School of Public Affairs. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Social Sciences, Public Affairs, Survey Methodology, or a related field OR a Master's Degree with prior employment experience in an academic survey research setting.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Prior experience conducting applied social science research or survey data collection.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director of the School of Public Affairs to strategically establish and expand relationships with faculty, staff, and the outside community to generate suitable research projects;
  • Supervise project scopes of work, budgets, and deliverables;
  • Make operational decisions to modify work scopes in light of unexpected or changed circumstances, variations in cost, etc.;
  • Ensure center compliance with human subjects' protections;
  • Ensure center compliance with university and federal regulations regarding billing rates, charges, and documentation;
  • Take an entrepreneurial approach to producing knowledge through publishable research on projects;
  • Supervise the operation of the center and personnel;
  • Work with the school and college budget specialists to oversee the center's finances;
  • Teach as affiliate faculty as appropriate;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working in or closely collaborating with a comparable research center
  • A track record of participating in high-quality social science survey research (including survey design, sampling, data collection, and analysis)
