Job Description

*This role is primarily remote, but candidates located in the Chicagoland area are preferred for occasional on-site meetings.

This hourly position requires flexibility with shift work, weekends, and overtime. Position reports into the RRD GO Creative group. The RRD GO Creative group provides prepress services to the heath care, retail, packaging and direct mail markets. RRD specializes in providing high quality digital solutions.

Shift:Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Knowledge to program and build production print and web-ready files for healthcare, traditional, and variable print.
  • Knowledge in XML tagging and composition.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ability to work independently.
  • Possess a working knowledge of high-volume directories, programmed data workflows, and composition within the healthcare industry.
  • Ability to make edits to programming and pages from start to finish with minimal recycles.
  • Load jobs into RRD systems with a full understanding of requirements and procedures.
  • Page composition skills with a full understanding of language usage.
  • Interact with internal and external customers as needed regarding requirements.
  • Identify and automate processes as necessary.
  • Process re-engineering to enable the implementation of new technology.
  • Edit developed scripts and programming as necessary.
  • Ability to set up templates and data.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in InDesign, Quark, Illustrator, and other desktop publishing software.
  • Complete composition knowledge.
  • Experience with programming and scripting in Spitbol and C++ languages, as well as other tools. Xyvision product XPP knowledge is a plus.
  • XML structure and setups.
  • Analyze customer data to determine the correct data processing methods.
  • Understand standard input and custom style pagination to enable multiple styles of products using a single input file.
  • Knowledge of healthcare directories in a high-volume environment utilizing automation. Programming background in the healthcare industry is a plus.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Strong commitment to high performance and a solution-oriented culture.
  • Experience in all technical aspects of analyzing data and executing programming.
  • Understanding of layout, web, and printing requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and fix template/style-related issues.
  • Analyze projects and create customized solutions in collaboration with the customer.
  • Create templates for directories using XPP; any prior exposure to directory services and XPP is desirable.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies in any given publication or document.
  • PC and Mac skills.
  • Good troubleshooting knowledge; proactive in all aspects of production operations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a team environment.
  • Sound understanding of business English communication.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments.
  • Must possess the ability to produce independently in a team environment.

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $72,000 to $85,000 annually. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
