Overview

The Event Sales Manager develops strategy for and initiates potential business account interest, solicits and negotiates contracts for hotel business for a specific assigned market(s) including national, corporate, state, regional, smerf, association, sports tournaments, and/or other group functions.



Responsibilities

    Understanding of basic sales techniques and customer service
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Solicits account leads from group meeting/event planners and decision makers for cultivation and development.
  • Represents the hotel with prospective customers to provide necessary information on hotel facilities and services and to determine levels of interest.
  • Be familiar with Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, amount of people and specified requirements.
  • Location of Hotel function space and names of rooms.
  • All styles of meeting and Banquet room settings.
  • All departmental / hotel policies and procedures.
  • Review sales and labor costs for previous day; resolve discrepancies with Accounting. Track actuals against budget.
  • Manage group room blocks up until contracted "cut off"
  • Prepare accurate deposit invoices
  • Review Final bill for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute, in a timely manner, accurate Banquet event orders.
  • Manages and negotiates account details and contracts so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Communicates and plans for operations departments participation in servicing accounts.
  • Formulates program and submits formal sales proposals to prospective customers.
  • Lead on-site inspections by customers, entertains customers, performs outside sales calls to develop leads.
  • Attends trade shows/events and makes personal calls on customers, which may involve travel within or outside the United States, dependant on assigned markets.
  • Forecasts realistic group pick-up utilizing recent convention history and other information.
  • Distributes information relative to the (company), (customer) and the hotel.
  • Actively participates in related trade organizations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.


Qualifications

  • Minimum (2) two years of college, degree desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Prefer 2-4 years experience in sales and/or event services, strong self-direction, able to prospect, excellent computer and telephone skills.
  • Superior relationship-building skills and able to effectively network. Represent the property in business settings.
  • Aggressive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality.
  • Prior hotel experience in hospitality sales, conference planning or convention skills.
